Class of . . . Program

The drive will run each spring

This is a great program on many levels.  The program raises scholarship money, introduces college aspirations to elementary students, involves the business and civic community in the work of The Scholarship Foundation and the lives of young students.  The Foundation and the adopting group/individual work out the terms of the adoption; The Foundation runs the Class of … portion of the program.

Each spring canisters are placed in every elementary and middle school homeroom. Teachers are encouraged to develop activities that fit their curriculum and grade level to raise money for the class fund.  Students are encouraged to bring donations.  And in some cases the adopting group/School PTO will visit the class and do an activity with them that emphases the value of saving for college.

All money raised, collected, is deposited in an account for that class, to gain income, with The Town of Billerica/Billerica Scholarship Foundation.

At the conclusion of the program (graduation), the “class” will have a scholarship fund that consists of monies donated/raised by the class and the adoptive entity.  The funds will be turned into scholarships for that class.

The Adopt a Class Class of… Program began in 1996. When the first class was in fifth grade.  It has successfully given out seventy-four awards totaling $60,500.00!  For a list of past and current Class of sponsors click here.

The Class of 2011 will give themselves at least NINE $1,000.00 awards!
